SUMMARY:Edinburgh Quartet - Schubert: A Journey - the Young Schubert
DESCRIPTION:Please note that this event is hosted by an external organisation and not St Cecilia’s Hall. For any enquiries about this specific event please see the organiser contact information below. \n\nThe Edinburgh Quartet returns to the beautiful St Cecilia’s Hall for the opening concert of our new six-part lunchtime series\, Schubert: A Journey Through His String Quartets.\n \nAcross the season\, we’ll follow Schubert from the remarkable music of his teenage years to the great masterpieces of his final years.\nFor our first concert\, we begin with one of Haydn’s last quartets\, a pinnacle of the Classical tradition\, before turning to the 18-year-old Schubert\, already finding the dramatic intensity and lyrical melodic writing that would come to define him.\n \nProgramme:\nHaydn – String Quartet in F major\, Op. 77 No. 2Schubert – String Quartet in G minor\, D.173\n \n\n\nBook Your Tickets Here
