Tours will be led by the curators and volunteers of St Cecilia’s Hall. The themes will change daily\, so feel free to register for more than one! Today\, its evocative voice resonates beyond temples\, bringing a centuries-old tradition into modern concert halls for a wider audience. This concert focuses on Sir Nicholas Shackleton’s remarkable instrument collection which includes over 800 clarinets featuring on this occasion the shakuhachi. Marjory Kennedy-Fraser and Lucy Broadwood were born just 80 miles and less than a year apart and their lives followed similar trajectories in many ways\, as they championed the folk songs of Scotland and England. DESCRIPTION:Musica Antica Rotherhithe\n\nMusic from the Golden Age of Venetian Opera\, 1650-1660. Musica Antica Rotherhithe present cantatas and extracts from operas written for Venice’s public theatres in the mid-seventeenth century\, many of which have lain unperformed for over 350 years. Using surviving payment records from Venetian theatres as inspiration\, Mezzo Camilla Seale and countertenor Tristram Cooke will be accompanied by an ensemble which matches a Venetian theatre band: comprising two violins\, bass viol\, two theorbos\, harpsichord and a pentagonal virginal.\n \n\n\nBook Your Tickets Here
