Venue Hire

St Cecilia’s Hall welcomes bookings for events that complement the museum’s core purpose as a concert hall for live music and museum of music and musical instruments. With a historic charm and excellent acoustics, it is perfect for concerts, music workshops and music and music history related events.
We have two main spaces available to suit a range of events, activities and budgets – the Sypert Concert Room and Laigh Hall.

Sypert Concert Room

With its distinctive elliptical shape and excellent acoustic qualities, the Sypert Concert Room is the perfect place for concerts, lectures, workshops and other music-related events.

The maximum capacity is 180 (including all event staff, performers, ushers, etc.)

Please note that there is strictly no catering permitted in the Concert Room. Hire of the Concert Room includes the use of Laigh Hall, which can be used for receptions/refreshments.

The Sypert Concert Room

Laigh Hall

Part of the original building, Laigh Hall is located on the ground floor. Surrounded by displays of our unique historical instrument collection, the space offers a wonderful opportunity for smaller music and music history related events and workshops.

The maximum capacity is 80.

Note that the Laigh Hall itself is divided in 2 by a glass wall creating 2 spaces, both these spaces comprise the Laigh Hall.

Catering is allowed in Laigh Hall. Please note that catering must be arranged separately by the client.

Important Information

  • Event Delivery on the Day. St Cecilia’s Hall does not provide event management support. Staff members will be on site during your event mainly for health & safety reasons, and will help you familiarise yourself with the venue. The client is required to nominate two members of their team who will manage the event.
  • A/V Equipment. A screen, projector and lectern with built-in microphone are available at no extra cost. For use with the projector, the client must bring their own laptop. If using a Mac computer, a connector will be required. Note that St Cecilia’s Hall staff are not AV technicians and if additional support is required, it is the responsibility of the client to arrange that.
  • Use of Piano. For concerts, St Cecilia’s Hall has a Yamaha Boudoir Piano available for use. Due to the layout of the building, the piano has to be moved to the Concert Room for each performance. This move, as well as the tuning, must be arranged by the client in advance. The Museum team are happy to provide contact details for movers and tuners that are familiar with our building and instrument.
  • Catering. St Cecilia’s Hall does not have a contract with any catering suppliers, and clients are free to use a catering company of their choice. Note that it is the client’s responsibility to inform the Museum team that the event will include catering in the booking form. Any food/equipment deliveries must take place during opening hours (Tue-Sat 10:00-17:00) and must be agreed in advance.
  • Daytime Operational Context. If your event takes place Tuesday – Saturday between 10:00-17:00, note that the museum will remain open to the public. It is vital you take this into consideration when planning your event.
  • Event Timings. You will be required to state the end time of your event. Note that this is the time staff will expect for everyone to have left the building and be able to lock up. If the event runs over the stated time, a penalty payment of £50 per 15 minutes will be added to your invoice.

More information can be found in our Venue Hire Terms & Conditions, which can be downloaded below. The client will be required to review the Terms & Conditions prior to their booking.
