‘Three on a Thursday’ Series celebrating 2018 Year of Young People #MYTM

April 19, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Thursday 15th February, Thursday 15th March and Thursday 19th April. All concerts start at 7pm.
A monthly concert series to celebrate and show case the wealth of creativity and talent of Edinburgh’s young people. Each concert will give you a ‘dolly mixture’ music experience with each 40 minute performance being distinctly different in style but uniform in quality and passion.

  • Bristo Brass Quintet are a multinational brass ensemble based in Edinburgh consisting of students and musicians living in the city. The Bristo Brass Quintet perform an eclectic range of genres from renaissance to pop.
  • Johnny Setlist ever since Johnny Setlist inherited a broken guitar back in his young teenage years, he has consistently gone about trying to make music for others to listen to. The reception of his work generally improved once he got the aforementioned guitar fixed, but that never stopped him seeking out all things that sound curious and unexpectedly musical; he has created melodic tapestries from the sound of till scanners, medicines bottles, and radiators on albums past. These days he settles for pulling out his ukulele and singing silly songs about swing dancing (which is funnily enough the title of his latest album), but he’s no less serious about the music he makes. His catalogue contains a mix of silly and sincere; he might make you laugh (intentionally or not), but he’s just as likely to sweep you over with a wave of sentimentality. It’s quite a sight. You should come see it live when you can.
  • Steve O’Neil & Friends Steve is a German born multi-instrumentalist now living in Edinburgh. After a chance encounter in London that introduced him to busking and Irish music, he has been busking his way through Europe. Inspired by the various styles of music he discovered, he set out to merge his different influences together. At ‘Three on a Thursday’ he will be performing some of the traditional tunes he encountered along the way and pieces that particularly inspired him together with his friends.

‘Three on a Thursday’ is working in partnership with the Scottish Poetry Library to introduce emerging young Spoken Word artists, so for this concert audiences will be able to enjoy the work of Stuart Kenny. Stuart performs “slam” poetry that is optimistic, funny, light-hearted, playful and with a positive outlook on life.
